百集大型纪录片《中国通史》由央视电影频道节目中心制作出品、中国社 会科学院监制、中国社会科学院历史研究所组织 撰稿并邀请国内多家重点大学、专业机构的研究 人员共同参与创作。 为了让广大观众先行了解其面貌，并听取各 方面意见，不断提高拍摄质量，电影频道从已经 拍摄完成的作品中，选出有关魏晋南北朝到隋唐 时期的7集先行播出，1月21日至27日晚8：50， 观众将分别看到《诸葛亮治蜀》、《魏晋风 度》、《北魏孝文帝改革》、《梁武帝治国》、 《魏晋佛教》、《再造统一》和《炀帝功过》。

建安五年(公元200年)，曹操与袁绍准备决战于官渡时，突然头痛发作，神医华陀仅为曹操扎了一针便治好了他的病。曹操想将华陀留于军中为自己治病，华陀却想用医术造福于天下疾苦百姓，并研制出麻药，退辞离开。后曹操又发出委任状，使华陀不得不随军任职。华陀偶然发现曹操四子曹冲患有致命隐疾，便写下治疗的药方给曹丕，但曹丕为争权位，将药方烧了。华陀接到妻子云卿讲述发现麻药线索的信，告假连夜返家。但当华陀努力寻找麻药时，爱子沸儿因误服野果中毒身亡，华陀夫妇悲痛万分，将研制成的麻药命名为“麻沸散”。曹操派人将华陀强行押回军营，又因他晚到而将他关入牢房。后曹操为防止华陀奉诏入宫为伏后治病，命人监斩华陀。华陀愤而烧毁刚刚写就的医术“麻沸散”并预言曹操将自食其果。后曹冲隐疾突发，曹操欲收回斩华陀的命令却为时已晚。曹操痛悔不已。
