百集大型纪录片《中国通史》由央视电影频道节目中心制作出品、中国社 会科学院监制、中国社会科学院历史研究所组织 撰稿并邀请国内多家重点大学、专业机构的研究 人员共同参与创作。 为了让广大观众先行了解其面貌，并听取各 方面意见，不断提高拍摄质量，电影频道从已经 拍摄完成的作品中，选出有关魏晋南北朝到隋唐 时期的7集先行播出，1月21日至27日晚8：50， 观众将分别看到《诸葛亮治蜀》、《魏晋风 度》、《北魏孝文帝改革》、《梁武帝治国》、 《魏晋佛教》、《再造统一》和《炀帝功过》。

If Camilla Osborne had been a boy, she would have inherited her father’s Dukedom, but now there is no longer a Duke of Leeds. The Duke and Duchess of St Albans don’t have a stately pile, but do have their coronets and coronation robes. One of the few Dukes to still sit in the House of Lords, The Eighth Duke of Montrose (pictured) is a hill farmer by trade. He continues the family tradition of being intimately involved in the political relationship between Scotland and England. The Duchess of Rutland was determined to make Belvoir Castle an efficient business, living onsite in one wing, with her estranged husband the Duke living in another. Their elder teen daughters are prepared for when the title is passed down to their younger brother. Whilst at Blenheim Palace, Lady Rosemary Spencer Churchill, daughter of the 10th Duke of Marlborough, revisits her childhood home. Her nephew succeeded to the title only recently and it’s a rather a different Blenheim to the one she remembers.

Wielding the same wit and wisdom, animation and gleeful nerdery as its predecessors, this film journeys from Aristotle to Alice in Wonderland, sci-fi to supercomputers to tell the fascinating story of the quest for certainty and the fundamentals of sound reasoning itself. Dave Cliff, professor of computer science and engineering at Bristol University, is no abstract theoretician. 15 years ago he combined logic and a bit of maths to write one of the first computer programs to outperform humans at trading stocks and shares. Giving away the software for free, he says, was not his most logical move... With the help of 25 seven-year-olds, Professor Cliff creates, for the first time ever, a computer made entirely of children, running on nothing but logic. We also meet the world's brainiest whizz-kids, competing at the International Olympiad of Informatics in Brisbane, Australia. 'The Joy of Logic' also hails logic's all-time heroes: George Boole who moved logic beyond philosophy to mathematics; Bertrand Russell, who took 360+ pages but heroically proved that 1 + 1 = 2; Kurt Godel, who brought logic to its knees by demonstrating that some truths are unprovable; and Alan Turing, who, with what Cliff calls an 'almost exquisite paradox', was inspired by this huge setback to logic to conceive the computer.
