《大抗战》作为一部纪录片集完整性、概括性和权威性于一体，本着实事求是、用史实说话的态度，挖掘出1000余小时由各国记录的战场原声影像、10万张高清真实照片，整理手稿、通讯、报纸文摘等重要文献千余份。以时间为经、以事件为纬、以人物为切入点，用新视角、新理念、新资料、新技术,对从“九一八”事变开始至日本投降的14年抗日战争，进行全面系统、客观生动的历史回顾。

建安五年(公元200年)，曹操与袁绍准备决战于官渡时，突然头痛发作，神医华陀仅为曹操扎了一针便治好了他的病。曹操想将华陀留于军中为自己治病，华陀却想用医术造福于天下疾苦百姓，并研制出麻药，退辞离开。后曹操又发出委任状，使华陀不得不随军任职。华陀偶然发现曹操四子曹冲患有致命隐疾，便写下治疗的药方给曹丕，但曹丕为争权位，将药方烧了。华陀接到妻子云卿讲述发现麻药线索的信，告假连夜返家。但当华陀努力寻找麻药时，爱子沸儿因误服野果中毒身亡，华陀夫妇悲痛万分，将研制成的麻药命名为“麻沸散”。曹操派人将华陀强行押回军营，又因他晚到而将他关入牢房。后曹操为防止华陀奉诏入宫为伏后治病，命人监斩华陀。华陀愤而烧毁刚刚写就的医术“麻沸散”并预言曹操将自食其果。后曹冲隐疾突发，曹操欲收回斩华陀的命令却为时已晚。曹操痛悔不已。

Between snippets of that constructed narrative are cat home videos, hundreds of clips of cats demonstrating the ability to be endlessly absorbed by the complexity of rolls of yarn, the enduring wetness of water, and the towering terror of little white bunnies.
