《探索·发现》是中国电视史上一个大型人文历史与自然地理类的纪录片栏目。每日20:40在cctv-10播出，由任志宏播音。栏目以纪录片手法讲述以中国为主的历史、地理、文化的故事，探寻自然界的神奇奥秘，挖掘历史事件背后鲜为人知的细节和人物命运，展示中华文明的博大恢弘，是“中国的地理探索，中国的历史发现，中国的文化大观”。
本片以上世纪60年代，支援大三线建设为初始背景。 由于这次发展的需要，有很多人们为了国家建设都热情积极的离开自己土生土长的家乡。千家万户，各有各的故事。此片就是讲述了4个普通家庭的故事。
