In a three-part series, Andrew Graham-Dixon looks back at 19th century Britain and its obsession with all things Gothic. The series explores how an inspired group of architects and artists spurned the modern age, turning to Britain’s medieval past to create some of Britain’s most iconic works and buildings. Inspired by the tumultuous Industrial Revolution, John Ruskin was among those who created architectural wonders, using the cutting edge of technology to create a brand-new British style of architecture. While in art and literature, the Gothic allowed Horace Walpole, Bram Stoker and Dickens to capture the terror, weirdness and social ills that plagued Victorian Britain.
Dr. Michelle Oakley, a veterinarian in one of the most rugged environments on Earth. Making house calls in the far reaches of Northern Canada is a daunting task in the least, considering the houses may be separated by hundreds of miles. That challenge doesn't stop Dr. Michelle Oakley from performing her many duties as a veterinarian in one of the most rugged environments on Earth. In addition to running an animal clinic out of her home in Haines Junction, Yukon -- where she lives with husband Shane and their three daughters -- Dr. Oakley also operates a satellite clinic 150 miles away and is the on-call vet for the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, which is about 100 miles from Haines Junction. She also makes house calls, sometimes driving for long stretches through desolate wilderness to check on a patient. This series documents how Dr. Oakley juggles being a full-time vet, wife and mom, and does so with a sense of humor and devotion.
Following the success of 'Big Cats: An Amazing Animal Family', engaging presenter and biologist Patrick Ayree returns to investigate our closest relatives in the natural world - primates. 'Monkeys: An Amazing Animal Family' is a lavish documentary that follows Patrick across the globe as he explores the incredible evolutionary rise of dazzlingly different primate species. Today, there are more than 300 species of primates. All of different shapes and sizes, they can jump higher, swing further and solve problems better than virtually any other animal group on Earth. But how and why? Patrick gets up close and personal with apes and monkeys as he climbs the primate family tree. Beginning 60 million years ago in Asia's dense forests, he discovers the origin of the earliest primates and how they conquered the world, making it from South Africa to America where they evolved into the intelligent, inquisitive and more physical members of the primate family that we now know as monkeys. As well as investigating the rise of the apes and the birth of our closest animal relative, the gorilla, Patrick explores why these creatures developed into incredible acrobats and how they evolved to have strong and long tails, loud howls or huge claws. From the tiny mouse lemur to the giant gorilla, Patrick explores them all in a stunning three-part documentary that features gorgeous photography, extraordinary animal behavior and one of TV's brightest new presenting talents.

Exploring the role and symbolic meaning of the Crown Jewels in the centuries-old coronation ceremony, The Coronation shows these objects of astonishing beauty in new high-resolution footage. The film tells the extraordinary story of St Edward's Crown, which was destroyed after the English Civil War and remade for the Coronation of Charles II in 1661. It has only been worn by Her Majesty once, at the moment she was crowned. On 2 June 1953, on one of the coldest June days of the century and after 16 months of planning, The Queen set out from Buckingham Palace to be crowned at Westminster Abbey, watched by millions of people throughout the world. A ceremony dating back more than a thousand years was to mark the dawn of a new Elizabethan age. Viewing both private and official film footage, The Queen recalls the day when the weight of both St Edward's Crown and the hopes and expectations of a country recovering from war were on her shoulders, as the nation looked to their 27 year-old Queen to lead them into a new era. In the film, The Queen says: 「I've seen one Coronation, and been the recipient in the other, which is pretty remarkable.」 For audiences unfamiliar with the story of the Crown Jewels and the regalia, the film explains their contemporary relevance to the UK as a nation and to the enduring purpose and the work of monarchy. They are symbols of the relationship between the Sovereign and the people, and the duties and responsibilities of leadership. The film also features eyewitness accounts of those who participated in the 1953 Coronation, including a maid of honour who nearly fainted in the Abbey, and a 12 year-old choirboy who was left to sing solo when his overwhelmed colleagues lost their voices.
