　　《进化：与时代同行》是一部探讨社会和时代变迁的财经纪录片。财经作家吴晓波由一个具象物体、一类奇妙现象、一种新生文化入手，在历史纵深上寻找尺度，见微知著的探索、发现中国人和中国社会发生的变化。
　　影片共6集，从鞋、房屋、书、猫、宝妈、工具6个切入点深入，从他们身上看到量变和质变的过程，寻找从迭代到进化的背景和土壤。籍此，我们呈现中国人喜欢什么，选择什么，发现从零到一，我们在创造什么。

　　山田孝之，35歲，是一名演員、電影製作人也是樂團主唱，開了一間公司，也當作家出書，而在這多采多姿生活的背後，是用很多的時間、很大的堅持及很多的努力所換來的。他出道不久，便以電視劇《水男孩》、《在世界中心呼喚愛》獲得人氣，首度主演的電影《電車男》也紅遍全亞洲。看似一切順遂的他，卻被媒體爆出私生子醜聞，讓他遭受許多抨擊，人氣不僅下滑，也因此得了憂鬱症。而山田孝之蛻變的分水嶺，就在30歲生日那一天。
