　　云林，早期因森林密集，云雾缭绕般的美景命名，如此美丽的地方，长久以来皆位于发展的边陲位置，主要产业以农、渔业为主；后来，巨大的工厂开始林立，工厂的云烟取代了森林的云雾。
　　导演从小在云林成长，透过镜头呈现传统农业与石化工业并存的矛盾景观，在经济发展挂帅的价值观下，自然环境和居民是否成了最大的牺牲者？ 詹皓中：「我从小在云林长大，四处可见美好的田园风光，但除了农业以外，这里还有巨大的石化工业，人们因为石化工业的存在各抒己见，有人认为政府管制不当造成环境的浩劫，有的人认为石化工业带来良好的经济贡献，更多的人假装不知道，因此我希望透过镜头让大家看看这里发生的故事。」

　　若松监督が'71 年夏、足立正生と、パレスチナの闘争を描く『赤军-ＰＦＬＰ 世界革命戦争宣言』を撮影したとき、现地で协力したのは重信だった。その後足立が日本赤军に参加し、若松监督は彼らに会うため毎年のようにレバノンのベイルートへ通い始める。
　　远山は、その映画『赤军-ＰＦＬＰ 世界革命戦争宣言』の上映运动のために、当时原宿のセントラル・アパートにあった若松プロに出入りしていた。
　　そういった彼女たちとの実际の関わりが、この映画制作に対する若松监督の大きなモチベーションになっている。登场人物同様、彼もまた「あの时代」を生きたのだ。重信と远山が登场するシーンは、若松监督のおなじみの场所、新宿ゴールデン街でも撮影された。
