　　广泛好评的1999年开始播出的NBC连续剧《白宫群英》(The West Wing)，它最新的一季将于9月24日在NBC播出。这部电视剧曾打败《老友记》、《欲望城市》等劲敌，连续两季成为艾美奖大赢家，并连续三季获得最佳连续剧奖。
　　一向被视为票房毒药的政治题材，在《白宫群英》里重获生机。这与当今美国公众价值取向的转变密不可分。尤其是9·11之后，美国人的爱国激情勃发，对总统的支持率达到前所未有的高度。《白宫群英》9·11特辑的收视观众多达2450万人。而剧中的演员们也纷纷表现出真正的政治热情，扮演森美的罗布洛 (Rob Lowe)成为阿诺·施瓦辛格的竞选顾问，扮演巴列总统的马丁·辛(Martin Sheen)则成为前一阵子好莱坞反战的中坚分子。
　　单纯从艺术角度来说，《白宫群英》在制作上比较活泼。虽然还是以拥护白宫为主旋律，但也不乏讽刺与调侃；虽然剧集强调纯属虚构，但暴露了众多白宫运作的真实内幕，因而也更受观众的欢迎。
　　在《白宫群英》里活跃的人物除了总统巴列及其家人外，还有他的一系列重要幕僚。从这个阵容便可看出，从全球战略的制定到总统一枚胸针的选择，在剧集里均可获得关注。当然其中也少不了各种谈情说爱的绯闻，其中不乏与现实“巧合"之处，例如在第一季中总统的女儿与白宫实习生大谈恋爱，而在剧集播出不久，便有消息称当时的总统克林顿的女儿与一名白宫实习生热恋。
　　剧集一方面为观众提供了一个窥视国家大事运作过程、窥视政坛要人的私生活的窗口，一方面又试图通过自己的表现影响高层，真正起到为总统出谋划策的作用，两头讨好，两方受益。
　　《白宫群英》给人的启示是，不仅以往那种让总统自己驾着飞机拯救全世界的手法已经落伍，从正面歌颂白宫也迷惑不了观众的眼睛。当传媒已颠覆了一切“神化"的可能的时候，与其用连小孩子都不相信的光环来包装总统，倒不如洗掉铅华，用有血有肉的真材猛料赢得公众的支持。

　　在英美非常流行的剧集之一，属于与Buffy同类型的魔届奇幻电视剧，同样也都是WB公司出品。三个魅力非凡的女巫在普通人生活面具下，运用超凡的法术对抗邪恶黑暗力量的故事。音乐剧情都可圈可点。
