　　2017年的10月，我国空间物理学博士刘杨踏上了他的第2次极地征程。这一次，他要独自驻守在中国北极黄河站，负责极区空间环境的观测。北极黄河站位于北纬78°55'、东经11°56’的挪威斯瓦尔巴群岛的新奥尔松。每年的10月至次年的3月，新奥尔松处于完全极夜状态，最有利于光学的连续观测。小镇上有分属于不同国家的科考站，而黄河站是一栋独立的二层小楼，在那里，刘杨将独自度过120个极夜。孤独，是刘杨每天必须要面对的。只有30个人的小镇是一个与世隔绝的小国度， 这个国度里，他每天的工作就是 负责三台全天空极光成像仪和一台极光光谱仪的开机关机，数据检查,以及两台磁力计和宇宙噪声接收机的运行维护。小镇如同一个有秩序的大院，大家保持着友好的且有适当距离感的关系。除了每天用餐时间和每周运动时间大家聚在一起， 平时更多的是独处。2018年2月， 刘杨将一个人迎接中国的农历新年， 他打算用中国传统习俗和文化温暖小镇寒冷的极夜。
　　小镇以南还有一座朗伊尔城，那里居住着一群欢快的“地球最北的居民”，他们的生活有着规律的阴面与阳面，他们是另一种意义上的光语者。3月伊始，那里持续了长达4个月的黑暗将被曙光冲破，“光语者们” 会举办一场盛大的嘉年华活动庆祝“太阳节”，迎接新年的第一缕阳光。
　　同一时空下，光，是一个人和一群人最清楚的信仰。
