Based on Tamara Trottner’s debut novel of the same name, the series is a gritty story inspired by Trottner’s own life. Set against the historical backdrop of 1960s Mexico, the plot revolves around a Jewish mother in relentless pursuit of her family amid a conflict between two powerful families of the same religion. The narrative kicks off in 1964, the year Valeria returns home one morning to find her house perfectly organized, but her daughter and son missing.
Sydney finds herself face-to-face with her long-lost mother, Irina Derevko, whose intentions for her daughter are made chillingly clear. But Jack intervenes and covers for Sydney who later finds Vaughn who helps her try to track down her mother Irina who's searing for a Rimbaldi artifact called 'the Bible.'

Add in brother Niles, Eddie the dog, some bizarre situations and plenty of humour and you've got all the ingredients for an excellent show and worthy successor to Cheers.
