　　NBC过去拿下电影《绝地战警2 Bad Boys II》角色Sydney “Syd” Burnett的个人衍生剧试映集《洛城战警 L.A.’s Finest》，但该项目最终没被预订。但是经过制片公司Sony Pictures电视部门的销售后，《洛城战警》以13集首季被有线台Spectrum收归旗下，预定美国时间5月13日首播。
　　在《绝地战警2》中饰演Syd一角的演员是Gabrielle Union，剧集版将由她继续演出。她是Marcus Burnett（Martin Lawrence饰）的妹妹，亦是美国缉毒局的卧底探员。另外在片中，Sydney与Mike Lowrey（Will Smith饰）是情侣。
　　《洛城战警》里Syd成了洛杉矶警局的警探，原本可以扔下过去，享受生活的她却可能因为新拍档Nancy McKenna而令事情变得复杂。在2000-02年主演过《末世黑天使 Dark Angel》的Jessica Alba将饰演Nancy McKenna，Nancy高中后参加了陆军，在伊拉克及阿富汗待了10年之久；回国后她当上了警探，与丈夫一同抚养两个前青少年期的继子。

　　本剧被描绘为一个疯狂、有黑暗喜剧色彩的罪案故事，南贾尼饰演创办了著名男性脱衣舞秀Chippendales的印度裔美国籍商人Somen "Steve" Banerjee。在1980年代，Chippendales在纽约走红并成为物欲横流的文化现象，而随后出现了多名秀场制作人、舞者和编舞被谋杀的血案，最终，Banerjee供认了纵火、诈骗和被雇佣杀人的罪名。
