This film is not about the revolution that changed Ukraine this winter. Not exactly. It rather shows a universal pattern of particular kind of uprisings - those ones that end with bloodshed. 唐玄宗（刘长纯 饰）生命垂危之际十分想念曾经深爱的贵妃，希望找到画圣吴道子（午马 饰）替自己画一张贵妃像，以解思念之苦。青年画师唐安州（许凝 饰）就此踏上了寻找吴道子的旅途，一路来到青羊镇，在客栈遇见了一位穿着邋遢疯癫的老乞丐。 种种迹象表明，老乞丐其实隐瞒了自己的身世，而他的真实身份，应该正是遁世的吴道子。为了引蛇出洞，唐安州设下了重重计谋，却总是被聪明绝顶的老乞丐和客栈掌柜红绛（郭珍霓 饰）耍弄，颜面尽失。最终，唐安州掌握了红绛身世的把柄以此相要挟，无奈之下，老乞丐只得将唐安州领到了一处坟前，告诉唐安州，坟中埋葬的正是吴道子。
