1998年紐西蘭人費爾先生 (Phil Tchernegovski) 帶著忐忑心情從南半球的紐西蘭來到北半球的臺灣尋找不知所蹤的心愛兒子。在過程中那種遍尋不著愛子的錐心之痛，卻在臺灣這個異鄉中，被溫暖人們的加油與鼓勵逐漸撫平。而最難能可貴的是，感念在臺灣獲得的善意，在臺灣發生921地震之後，他又再次回到臺灣，以一己之力幫助那些曾經幫助過他的人。一個異國的父親，在最困難的時候，被臺灣人的愛扶起，而當臺灣有難的時侯，他也感念的回報。
本系列纪录片讲述了三组来自世界各地令人大开眼界的“特殊人物”。一对来自巴基斯坦的“太阳能男孩”——白天生龙活虎，太阳一落山就完全陷入瘫痪，全身动弹不得。一名被“偷走青春”的英国少女——明明只有20岁却长了一副60多岁的容颜。还有来自印尼的世界上最重的男孩——190多公斤的体重，几乎让他寸步难行。这些人都因为各种全球罕见的病症，被生活逼上了绝路。本片将通过对他们的跟踪采访，揭示这些特殊人物的日常生活，以及他们对抗自身命运的不懈斗争。
